Squidstat User Interface and API Updates

Picture123-1

We’re pleased to announce the latest software update for Squidstat users. In addition to long term experiment stability, below are some of the many improvements included in this release:

  1. You can now reorder core CSV columns in the CSV File Customizer. Arrange your exports exactly how you prefer.

  2. Six new Cumulative Charge-type headers have been added.

  3. The Log Messages menu under More Options has been renamed “Technical Support Tools”. Same features. Clearer name.

  4. You can filter plots by Charge/Discharge and Cyclic Voltammetry cycle numbers. Faster analysis / fewer clicks.

  5. You can now run the Squidstat API from a Raspberry Pi.

Squidstat Scientific Spotlight Series

This month’s featured work explores how Md Zawad Hossain and researchers at Wichita State University used the Squidstat Plus and Squidstat Prime potentiostats to study temperature effects (15 °C, 25 °C, 45 °C) on NbSe₂ for next-generation SIBs and PIBs, analyzing electrochemical activity, ion transport, and storage mechanisms.

Admiral Instruments App Note - Calculating Corrosion Rates From a Tafel Plot

Featured Application Note This Month

This month we are highlighting a technical application note titled “Calculating Corrosion Rates From a Tafel Plot” which demonstrates how the Squidstat Plus potentiostat can be used to perform corrosion tests and accurately calculate corrosion rates from a Tafel plot.

This 4-page document outlines how to set up a Tafel experiment, identify the linear anodic and cathodic regions, extract kinetic parameters such as corrosion current density and corrosion potential, and convert electrochemical data into quantitative corrosion rates. It summarizes a step-by-step guide to generate reliable, reproducible corrosion measurements for metals and protective coatings.

Squidstat Solvers Episode 1

Squidstat Solvers Episode 1 is Out!

Episode 1 of our brand new stop-motion video series shows a team of Squidstat Solvers diving in (tentacles first) to solve a commonly asked question: how to connect a Squidstat to a battery test fixture.

Our Squidstat Solvers wiggle their way through the correct connections for both the Squidstat Plus potentiostat and Squidstat Cycler - Base Model. Expect just enough lab humor so you can confidently perform your battery testing.
